Dual Token System
A Multi-Currency Ecosystem for Stability and Growth
The Project Mycelium ecosystem uses two tokens:
- AUR (yin) : Stable currency for purchasing services, linked to Gold
- SPORE (yang): Tradable token for growth and investment, reward for hosters.
This dual-currency system ensures both price stability for services and growth potential for hosters and token holders.
Token 1: AUR (AUR)
AUR (Gold-Linked Currency) is a stable currency for purchasing services within Project Mycelium.
This is the only currency users will use to pay for services like compute, storage, and networking, an avg user does not need to know about SPORE.
- 1 AUR = 1/1000 gram of gold (0.001g)
- Stable value, pegged to gold price
- Used internally in marketplace
- NOT tradable on external exchanges
- Backed by physical gold reserves
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Stablecoin-like utility token (non-tradable) |
| Value Peg | 1 AUR = 0.001 grams of gold (~USD 0.14 USD at current gold prices) |
| Purpose | Medium of exchange for services; price stability |
| Where to Use | Only within Project Mycelium marketplace |
| Trading | Not tradable on external exchanges (stays in ecosystem) |
| Backed By | Digital Gold + SPORE Liquidity Pool reserves |
Why AUR Exists
Problem: If services were only priced in SPORE, prices would fluctuate wildly as SPORE price changes.
Solution: AUR pegged to gold provides predictable, stable pricing.
- Users know: "1 compute slice costs 9,375 AUR" (always equivalent to 0.001g of gold)
- Hosters know: "Minimum bid tier is 96 SPORE" (equivalent to ~USD 1.20 at fixed rate)
- No surprise price swings
Token 2: SPORE (Spore Token)
SPORE is the primary token of Project Mycelium Services Providers / Hosters. It represents ownership in the growth of the ecosystem.
| Attribute | Value |
|---|---|
| Type | Tradable utility token |
| Purpose | Farmer compensation; ecosystem growth token |
| Current Price | USD 0.01 USD per SPORE (fixed till June 30, 2026) |
| Max Supply | 10 billion SPORE (capped, no infinite minting) |
| Where to Earn | Mycelium Hosts earn SPORE when users rent their node slices (80% of rental price) |
| Where to Trade | Marketplace, Liquidity Pool, and public blockchains (Phase 2 onwards) |
| Blockchain | Multi-chain (details in Phase 2) |
How Mycelium Hosts Earn SPORE
When a user pays for a node slice rental:
| Payment Split | Recipient | Amount | In SPORE |
|---|---|---|---|
| Farmer | You | 80% | ✓ Yes (SPORE tokens) |
| Burned | Destroyed | 10% | ✓ Yes (removed from circulation) |
| Protocol | Project Mycelium | 10% | ✓ Yes (development fund) |
Example: User rents your Mini 1 slice for USD 1.20/month (expressed in AUR)
- Total payment: USD 1.20 USD (equivalent in AUR -> Converted To SPORE)
- Farmer receives 80% of USD 1.20 = USD 0.96 USD (expressed in SPORE)
Every month, your SPORE earnings accumulate in your Project Mycelium account.
Revenue Distribution & Burning
80/10/10 Split (From Farmer Rentals)
Every time a user pays for a slice:
- 80% → Farmer (as SPORE)
- 10% → Burned (immediate removal from circulation)
- 10% → Protocol (Project Mycelium development)
Why This System Works
Problem: Single Token Systems Are Unstable
- If you price services in a volatile token, prices fluctuate wildly
- Hosters and users can't plan budgets
- Utilizing the network is inherently risky because it requires holding a volatile asset
Solution: Dual-Currency System
| Requirement | SPORE (Yang) | AUR (Yin) |
|---|---|---|
| Price stability | ✗ (tradable, floats) | ✓ (pegged to gold) |
| Growth potential | ✓ (appreciates) | ✗ (stable by design) |
| Farmer incentive | ✓ (earn & hold) | ✗ (neutral holding) |
| User budgeting | ✗ (unpredictable) | ✓ (predictable) |
Result: Hosters get paid in appreciating assets while users enjoy stable service pricing.
Controlled Minting & Burning
- No infinite printing: SPORE has a 10 billion cap
- Deflationary: 10% of revenue burns SPORE
- Backing: Liquidity Pool reserves ensure SPORE value
Summary Table: SPORE vs. AUR
| Feature | SPORE | AUR |
|---|---|---|
| What you earn | Yes (hosters) | No (only purchased) |
| Tradable | Yes | No |
| Price | USD 0.01 (till June 2026), then floats | USD 0.14 (gold-pegged) |
| Max supply | 10 billion capped | Unlimited (utility token) |
| Best for | Long-term holding, investment | Daily services, budgeting |
| Benefit | Appreciation potential | Predictability |
